Allergy Relief

Allergy relief comes in many forms. Breathe Right® nasal strips provide relief from congestion caused by allergies. Additionally, here are some simple, practical things you can do on a daily basis for allergy relief.

Indoor Allergy Relief

  • During allergy season, keep windows closed and use air conditioning, both in your home and automobile.
  • Dust with a damp cloth. Dry cloths just fill the air with irritating allergens.
  • As you vacuum, 60 percent of the dust mites you've collected are released back into the air. Specially made filtering vacuums and bags can help.
  • Remove carpets from your home if you are prone to dust-mite allergies. Or at least have them cleaned frequently.
  • Wash bedding in hot water (130 degrees or higher) every week to remove dust mites.
  • For cleaner indoor air, use vent filters such as Breathe Right air filters to trap allergens.
  • Keep family pets out of the bedroom to reduce the amount of animal dander in the air you breathe at night.

Outdoor Allergy Relief

  • During allergy season, designate special clothing and shoes for gardening. Leave them outside when you're done.
  • Take a shower immediately afterwards to remove pollen from your skin and hair.
  • Remember that windy days - when pollen counts are high - pose more of an allergy risk.
  • Don't hang laundry outdoors to dry, as pollen may dry on towels and sheets.
  • Pollen and mold in the air are heaviest between 5 a.m. and 10 a.m. Try to stay inside during these hours.
  • Drink plenty of clear liquids to keep your body hydrated and mucous membranes functioning.
