Take these common-sense steps to help you avoid catching a cold:

  • Wash your hands often to get rid of germs.
  • Keep fingers away from your nose, eyes and mouth – where germs enter your body.
  • Avoid people with colds, especially early on, when they’re most contagious.
  • Sneeze or cough into a tissue, then throw it away.
  • Clean surfaces with a germ-killing disinfectant.
