What We’re Doing
  • As a way to help champion better breathing, we've partnered with The Conservation Fund to plant new trees.
  • We're donating $1 to The Conservation fund on behalf of our Facebook fans who wear a virtual Breathe Right Strip.
  • Our new office in Pennsylvania is being built to achieve LEED® Platinum certification, the highest possible designation in the internationally-recognized sustainable building rating system.
  • We’ve revised our environmental strategy to focus on carbon, water, and environmental stewardship.
  • We carried out life cycle assessments of several products, technologies and packaging options to identify more sustainable alternatives.
  • We announced an important partnership with the Singapore Economic Development Board, committing $50 million in funding to support research in green and sustainable manufacturing.
  • GSK became the first company to achieve global certification to the Carbon Trust Standard.

What You Can Do
  • You can prevent pollution and improve air quality by replacing standard lightbulbs with energy-efficient bulbs (like CFLs), which save energy and costs.
  • A typical family consumes 182 gallons of soda, 29 gallons of juice, 104 gallons of milk, and 26 gallons of bottled water a year. That's a lot of containers—make sure they're recycled!
  • Air pollution is one of the leading causes of nasal congestion. Protecting our forests and planting new trees can combat this, helping you breathe better.
  • If all our newspapers were recycled, we could save about 250 million trees each year!
  • Recycling can save more than the environment – it costs only $30 per ton to recycle trash, but it costs $50 to send it to the landfill and $65 to $75 to incinerate it.
  • Did you know that it could take more than 1 million years for a Styrofoam cup to decompose? Yet, Americans still throw away 25 billion Styrofoam cups each year. Think about switching to reusable cups and water bottles!
  • Think about switching to reusable shopping bags – the plastic from a single-use bag never goes away, and toxic particles enter the food chain when they are ingested by unsuspecting animals.
  • Recycle, recycle, recycle! Did you know that the energy saved from 1 recycled aluminum can will operate a TV for 3 hours and is to equivalent a half a gallon of gasoline?
