How Breathe Right® nasal strips work
Find out how to apply—and remove—the nasal strips.
They seem simple but Breathe Right® nasal strips have unique engineering that make them an effective tool for managing nighttime nasal congestion and helping to improve sleep.
The nasal strips are made of flexible, spring-like bands that fit right above the flare of the nostrils. The underside is 3M adhesive so that once positioned on the nose, they stay there. As the bands attempt to straighten back to their original shape, they lift the sides of the nose and open the nostrils.
This lifting action helps open the nose and makes it easier to breathe. The nasal strips provide instant relief for nasal congestion due to colds, allergies, or a deviated septum and help reduce snoring caused by nighttime nasal congestion.
How to use Breathe Right nasal strips
Better breathing, coming right up. Follow the steps below to start stripping.
The adhesive won’t stick properly to wet, oily, or moisturized skin, so be sure to thoroughly wash and dry your nose before applying.
No, really. Our strips come in two different sizes and strength levels, so make sure to determine which strip is best for you.
Position is everything
First, remove the protective liner to expose the adhesive. Then center the strip along the width of your nose with the tabs sitting just above the flaring parts of the nostrils.
Gently rub the strip to secure it into place on your nose. Press down ends and rub gently to secure the Breathe Right nasal strip in place. It is normal to see slight lifting at the edges as it opens your nose. Take a deep breath. Better breathing begins now.
How to remove Breathe Right nasal strips
To remove, remember to go slowly. We suggest removing your nasal strip while washing your face with warm water (or when you're in the shower) to start to loosen the strip from its ends. Always remove the strip gently. With one hand on each tab, lift the strip off your nose
